Meaning and interpretation

Rin begins the sequence by establishing stability, resolve, and embodied presence. In contemporary practice, it can be approached as a grounding seal: a deliberate return to posture, breath, and intention before any further visualization or ritual work.

Forming the seal

Interlace the fingers inward with the palms pressed together. Leave the index fingers free, raise them, and press their tips together. Keep the remaining fingers securely woven.

Contemplative practice

Sit upright. Inhale for four counts and exhale for six. On each exhale, silently repeat “Rin.” Imagine your weight settling downward while your spine lengthens upward. Continue for nine breaths.

Reflection

“Where do I need steadiness before I take action?”

Practice note

Chants, deity associations, chakra correspondences, and claimed effects vary across lineages and modern manuals. This page presents them as tradition and contemplative symbolism rather than experimentally established fact.
